I installed a 2 TB WD Black drive several months ago (as F: drive ). It contains ONLY data (movies and music). it worked fine until after I upgraded Win 7 to Win 10. even then, it was fine for a couple of months. one day, when I tried launching my J. River Media Center, it found no artist files. I noticed that the F: was not indicated in Explorer. I rebooted and it returned. Then today, it again is not showing in explorer!

I went into Device Manager, and I found the drive listed under 'Other Devices'. The HDD Symbol next to the drive p/n has a small ? on it, but gives no information as to what is questionable. there is no yellow 'yield' symbol. I tried updating the drivers, but no WD drivers were to be found (probably on the F:?)

Also, the drive doesn't show up anywhere in Disk Management - just the C: and D: are indicated.

Welcome to the community, msek59!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the system! 🙁 I'd recommend you to try swapping the SATA cable connecting the WD Black with a different one. Another important thing to do is to check the SATA controller/chipset drivers on your motherboard manufacturer's website. There are no brand-specific HDD drivers. Find your model, select the OS version and make sure you have the latest mobo drivers installed. If you do, you should also check for any BIOS firmware updates there.

Before that, you can also try resetting BIOS using one of the methods listed here: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
It will get your BIOS settings back to factory defaults, but it might also help with the proper detection of your secondary WD HDD.

Keep me posted!
