2nd Monitor connecting question

I'll be getting a 2nd monitor soon, my question is which connection should I use for it.

My current GPU is ASUS GTX 580 DirectCU II, which has:

D-Sub Output : Yes x 1 (via DVI to D-Sub adaptor x 1)
DVI Output : Yes x 2 (DVI-I)
HDMI Output : Yes x 1
Display Port : Yes x 1 (Regular DP)

I currently have Asus VE248H monitor and I'm planning to get a second one.(Link: http://www.asus.fi/Display/LCD_Monitors/VE248H/)(Monitor includes: 1 DVI cable and 1 VGA cable)

Currently I am using HDMI to connect my current monitor, for the 2nd monitor, I have 2 options currently:

1. Use the DVI cable that comes with the monitor, but I'm not sure if the DVI cable can connect to my GPU as the Monitor has a DVI-D connection and my GPU has DVI-I.
2. Buy a HDMI cable along with a HDMI-DisplayPort converter

#1 should work fine. A normal DVI cable is actually DVI-D on both ends and connects right to the DVI-I on your video card.
