I have 2 monitors and one is hooked up through a VGA cable and the other goes through a converter which plugs in to my PC as an HDMI. The HDMI monitor works only if I unplug it and plug it back in after booting (basically, it doesn't turn on with my PC like my VGA monitor does). This isn't my main monitor, but I like to use 2 monitors to multitask and it's pretty annoying having to unplug and plug my monitor back in every time I boot or wake up my computer. I don't know what is causing the problem, but I am open to suggestions as to what I should do.

What kind of surge protector / power strip are you using?

I ask because there are surge protectors that have an all on/off feature, depending on where things are plugged into it. For example if your PC was plugged into the "master" outlet on the surge, when you turn it on, it may signal to turn your monitor(s) on.

This probably has nothing to do with your issue, but it would be something to check.

They are both plugged into the same power strip so if it had an effect on it I feel it would affect both monitors.
