2nd Monitor not displaying

My two monitors are connected to my graphics card. My second monitor never turns on right after boot, it takes a long time, sometimes hours, before it turns on and is usable. I am using a VGA to DVI adapter on it at the moment. Unplugging and replugging doesn't help to fix the problem, it is secure in the socket. My card is Radeon R9 270

A vga to dvi adapter never works. Unless it's an active adapter.

Sounds like an issue with the monitor, can you try it in a differnt port or computer?

I can confirm it used to work, it only stopped working starting about a year ago. Radeon R9 270

Sounds like an issue with the monitor, can you try it in a differnt port or computer?

I don't think I can do another port because it's plugged into my graphics card...
