Hey guys. I recently bought a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC with 6gb and now my 2nd monitor won't show signal. It's a Samsung Syncmaster B2230 which only has a vga output. I know the monitor works because I used it before as 2nd monitor in my old GPU which also has a vga output. Now since the GTX 1060 only has DVI-D, Display Port and HDMI (I think) I used a VGA to DVI-D adapter for the Samsung. Could the adapter be the problem or does the monitor simply not support DVI even with the adapter?

Thanks!

DVI-D means digital only DVI.
VGA is an analog signal.
Most DVI to VGA adapters relay on a DVI-I output that supports digital or analog, but this is not what you get on the GTX 1060.
You would need an active adapter. These are generally from HDMI or DisplayPort and have a box with a cable.
I'm not sure you can get an active DVI-D to VGA adapter since I don't think DVI can supply power for the adapter.

So in short, look for an active HDMI or DisplayPort to VGA adapter or look for a new monitor that accepts an input from DisplayPort, DVI or HDMI.

Can you give me an example from Amazon or Ebay of one of those active adapters?
