I have 2 monitors connected to a Dell Laptop with windows 10. 1st monitor is connected via HDMI direcetly to HDMI port on laptop. The 2nd monitor is connect via HMDI cord to a USB C adapter. Both monitors will work but periodically the 2nd monitor will go black and then display message "Input Signal Not Found", but when i open the display settings the computer is detecting both monitors. If i unplug the HDMI and reconnect, it will temporarily solve the issue but after a few minutes it will go black again and display the error message.
I know the cables are all good, as I've tried swapping cables. All connections are tight.

I've also tried updating the display drivers.

Any other suggestions??

Check the power connections to 2nd monitor: from outlet to monitor. Bypass power strips, extension cords, etc. if any are being used.

Swap the monitors. Determine if the random blackouts follow the monitor or stay with the existing/current HDMI cord to USB C adapter path serving the current monitor #2.

Hi, Thanks for the response. It definitely isn't a power issue. I did try swapping monitors, and it seems the problem stayed with the current HDMI cord to USB C adapter path.
Seems like maybe it is an issue with the USB C adapter??

That would be my thought.

With the" current HDMI cord to USB C adapter path" in place try gently wiggling, twisting, bending, and flexing the cord along its length and then do the same at both plug ends. Pinch, and squeeze the plugs while being careful not to damage the respective ports.

If there is a bad connection inside the cord then the video signal may come and go as you twist the cable. Then you will know for sure.

I've tried that to no avail. Also the interestingly enough, while the screen is black and displaying the message, the computer still recognizes the monitors and I can move windows over to that screen ( I just can't see it screen). So I'm thinking is has to do more with a setting or something rather than hardware.
