Hello. I'm looking for some feedback on my build. I don't build very often so when I do I always have to learn new standards and worry about compatibility errors or just poor choices.

Approximate Purchase Date: Within a month or so. Maybe longer depending on sales.

Budget Range: $900 or less. Firm. I will not have a new job for a while and only have some saved money.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, typical internet use. Want something good enough to do decent on top graphics games like Battlefield 3 and max settings on lesser games. I am not expecting ultra+AA for BF3. I know I can't afford that.

Parts Not Required: Psu, keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, hdd, and possibly case. Psu is Corsair HX 520

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg, others if the price difference is significant

Country: U.S.A.

Parts Preferences: Intel base. Quality brands, budget models.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments:
Here is my wishlist. I won't be buying immediately and will be looking for sales for these parts and comparable ones and will purchase when the time seems right.

For quick reference-
i5-2500k
EVGA 560 ti
Biostar TZ77B
2x4gig Ripjaw x
Crucial M4 128gig SSD
Rosewill Challenger

I'm looking for input on a few things.

1. Is my used power supply ok for this build? My budget is very tight and I can't find much to trim because if I skimp too much on video card or processor I will feel it's not worth building a new computer altogether. I don't want to get a cheap one just to have a new one and I don't have room in my budget for another quality one. It is the following model and I've used it for a good 3 years or so. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001

2. Compatibility. Did I make any mistakes? I saw the z77 mobo and figured it was probably better to get the newer model than the z67 for the same price, but I don't know for sure.

3. Downgrade for value? Did I overkill anything or create a bottleneck? I was going to get a mechanical HDD but when I saw how high the prices were now I decided to forget spending $100 on one and spend $125 on my first SSD. I have some leftover mechanicals for storage.

4. Any near future releases that will cause some nice price drops? I would love to get an even better video card but the current prices for even old cards do not look very good. Last time I built I got a tier 2/3 card for $150 and now I have to spend $250 for a tier 6 or so:(

5. Any alternate suggestions. Should I go Radeon? If this Zotac still has free Battlefield 3 when I order then it seems like a worthy upgrade since I will buy BF3 anyway. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500231

Thanks a lot for any input!

No over clocking, no second card in the future then this is an easy one.

A few problems with your advice. Stock coolers are fine if you are not going to overclock. While a new psu might be a good idea, if you are upgrading, I would get at least 600w so you have room for more in the future. That said, the i5-3450 is a good idea, a 7850 is better than a 560 ti for the same price. Also look at this motherboard. It costs $10 more, but will hold up better.

I had not payed any attention to the Ivy bridges since I heard so many people say that you need nothing higher than a 2500k for gaming. But I didn't realize there was a cheaper model so I will check it out.

I just pick Nvidia because it's what I've had in the past but I'm willing to try Radeon. I'll pay attention to the 7850 prices and most likely buy based on whichever has a better sale price. I'm not real happy with current video card prices on newegg. Reading reviews, people were buying 560 ti for like $200 with 2 free games a while back and now they are $250 with no free games. I most likely won't buy until a decent sale comes up.

As for aftermarket cooling, I may get a budget one like you linked. Undecided. If I save some good money then I probably will.

Good catch on that Adata ssd. I thought I had already found the cheapest one for that size(without lots of bad reviews).

I have to spend some time browsing the motherboards you both linked but thank you for some extra suggestions. Motherboards are always my most difficult decision.

Oh, and I am fine with non-newegg suggestions. I'm always happy to shop there but I have no problem ordering something from Amazon or somewhere for a good sale price.

No, I'm not. I have never even heard of them until today while reading other threads. Crazy prices. I am moving in 2 months and will be near one then so it's possible I could buy there if I don't find a sale I'm happy with soon.

Good Build, but 600w is better. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 this one goes with your case style [ if you were planing to buy the crosair]

With all that said, the Processor he chose is a good one for this build, also the case you pick, the rosewill will keep the system very quite, with the CPU cooler he posted, it will be even more quiet. :]

Ask for somebody else for the windows, it will save you 100 dollars, which is a lot.

Nice build.

If you can hold out another two months then do it. SSD's are just going to keep getting cheaper and microcenter has some crazy good prices for walk in only deals.

Here's a good example.

Not quite. Microcenter has tax which cuts down on savings slightly. I still would wait. Nvidia might release low cost gtx 600 series gpus. Also Microcenter has amazing customer service.

Thanks, I think I might just wait for that. It's very close to where I am moving and it would give me enough savings to buy a good power supply. Also, it gives some time for some video card price drops or possibly even the 660.
