2ND Ram Slot

Graphics card: Gigabyte GEForce GTX 1050
PSU: Corsair VS550
Hard drive: WD Blue 1tb
Ram (Purchased Today): Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 8gb 2400mhz (4x2)

Problem:
I am currently building a custom pc however I ran into a problem. I previously had a DDR3 HyperX module kit however my mobo doesn't support DDR3 as far as I know. When I had put it in it started smelling of burning and I turns everything of and remove my ram. My ram has one burnt pin. My 2nd ram slot has one pin burnt as well. Is my ram slot dead or is it still usable. I don't want to kill my new ram or mobo.

The ddr3 is definitely toast, the motherboard is likely toast aswell and quite possibly the cpu as the memory controller is on the cpu.

DDR3 is keyed differently than DDR4 and you having to force the ram in the slot should have been a big clue something was wrong.
