Hi there,
I have had this GT70 laptop for a few months with two ssds initially in raid0.
Dual booting on this machine has proved to be an ordeal. The second drive
would disappear randomly from the bios. I got rid of the
raid0 and installed Linux on ssd0 and Win8.1 on ssd1.
All fine for 3 days but then Windows won't boot. The ssd1 does not show
up in the bios again. However, after booting on ssd0 in my linux I can see the volume
and partitions fine. I think I have had this issue since the begining.
Could it be that the drive takes time to show up and appears after the bios
update its information, preventing the boot ? I am aware that the SATA hardware
is likely to be faulty. I am just looking for a way to somehow make it work.

Best

Sure you can make it work... can you solder under a high power microscope?

#EHEM# anyways, joking aside, do you perhaps have more open sata slots on the motherboard? If that's so, then try replugging the hard drive that won't boot. If that don't work, try another cable. If that don't work too, take the hard drive to another computer and see if it works there. If it doesn't, its broken.

Hi BigBagBeef,
I have analysed the ssd several times and it works. It is in a special configuration on my laptop and
moving it is not an option. As said it shows up in gparted so it seems it is more a problem that
the EFI BIOS either can not see it at all or it is not ready when the BIOS looks for drives (not quite sure
how this works). I read threads saying that the drive can be frozen by the BIOS in some circumstances but
that is not the case.
