My 2TB Hitachi HDD is making a SUPER loud noise even when I am not using my computer (When it is just on the desktop). Not sure why it is making that loud of a noise! Help!
It is from Amazon, so I emailed the seller about it. Problem is I need to use this computer and download stuff to the HD so I can't take it out and wait on another one to come!
This is rather unfortunate! I'd then suggest to back up everything that you download on that drive then!
Do you have another computer you could use or another HDD until they ship you the replacement product?
Ask friends if they have spare HDDs you could use until you RMA your hard drive.
Unfortunately, the noise is an indication of internal damage on the HDD. There's nothing you could do to fix this one.
However, get in touch with your HDD manufacturer's tech support and let them know about this. If your drive is still within the warranty period, you should be able to RMA it and get a replacement product.
