News 2TB Samsung 980 Pro SSD Drops to $154: Real Deals

Samsung quality has gone down the toilet. I wouldn’t put this rubbish in my computer if they were giving them away.

There are some really spectacular deals on higher quality SSDs out there and they aren’t hard to find.

Such as...?

Western Digital and Corsair have some great deals. if you purchase 2 from WD website there is an additional discount ($80 additional off for 2 of the 2TB SN850x). I plan to use both in a RAID 0 config and it should smoke (no pun intended) any overheating Gen 5 pcie SSD currently available.

WD and Crucial ARE good options.
(I still like Samsung, though. I have several)

But you should know that SSD + RAID 0 is very much not well liked around here.
No matter what drives. All the way from SATA III SSD up to Gen 5.0.

Benchmark numbers look awesome. User facing benefit, not so much.
But, if you have actual reports to the contrary, we'd ALL like to see that...😉

We’ll see how it goes. At the very least I’ll have an additional 4tb of storage. The discounts for Gen 4 SSDs are pretty good right now, almost like a fire sale going on.

I too have older Samsung SSDs in my machine. Unfortunately I think Samsung quality overall has gone off a cliff, not just SSDs like the 990 but their appliances and TVs have also suffered. Not sure what happened they used to be the pinnacle of quality.
