hi, i just purchased a 2TB Seagate hard drive but its showing as OOS2000G instead of ST2000DM001
it's a lot slower than my other ST2000DM001 drive
i used SeaTools to check the serial number but its just showing "00000000"
i tried to check its warranty status on Seagate's site but it says "unknown"
is this a not legit drive ?
should i get a refund ?
thanks in advance

Solution
What happens when you test the drive? Does it pass the tests?
It will not hurt to attach the drive with different cables to another SATA port.

It seems that you need SN in order to contact the Support. As you don't have one, I believe you can try to contact the pre sales support.(as you don't need SN for that one)
Just google contacts and the manufacturer's name and go to pre sales support.

Cheers,

Hi there TomasHZH,

That is really strange.
How is the drive recognized by BIOS?

I believe that the best thing you can do is to contact the manufacturer's Support on that. The guys over there should be able to provide some useful information.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

i didn't test it with SeaTools
i tested it with CrystalDiskMark and it was a lot slower than my other ST2000DM001 drive
i tried to check its health status by CrystalDiskInfo but it didnt even read the drive, only could read my primary drive not this 1
i changed its sata port and cable but still the same
i will contact pre sales support and let u know what they tell me, thanks

Update: i contacted the pre sales support and they asked for the serial written on the hard drive sticker, i sent it to them and they replied that this is not a valid seagate serial
i returned it and got a refund
