2tb wd black vs 1tb hdd and 250gb ssd.

If I get the ssd and hdd what its the real difference, and is the difference really needed?
My computer is going to be used for gaming, video editing, and streaming.

The WD Black was a great HD but the design is a bit outdated and it'd outperformed by newer designs. And that's not the Black you are linked to, it's Blue which is quite a step down below the Black.

SSD + HD
SSD + SSHD

So far, nobody can tell which systems is which using AutoCAD or gaming. In our in house testing, the SSD booted in 15.6 seconds, SSHD in 16.5

With the 2 TB SSHD at $81, I'd call that a "no brainer"... 1% more for 50% more speed. If you are the type of gamer who generally plays just 1 or 2 games at a time, you can really benefit from the SSHD as all the files from the game you are frequently using will be stored on the SSD part of the SSD.

Now if the thread title is wrong and you actually intended to get the 1 TB Blue then, you'll need to spend $10 more to get 1 TB SSD ... seems worth it for a 100+% performance increase in gaming. To be fair, Blue model tested is only 500GB and the 1 TB model is a bit faster, tho not as fast as the Black.

So.... I'd do the SSD you picked + the 1 TB SSD for the extra $10 if budget limited and, if it can be managed budget wise, an additional $18 on top of that for the 2 TB SSHD.

Must be said though ... if budget is tight and ya can use that money ($50) somewhere else, the 2 TB SSHD is a fine solution, losing you 0.9 seconds in boot time and not much else (unless you into benchmarks).

What if I was to go with a 120gb ssd and the 2tb sshd?

That's what most of our builds here have tho the later ones have 256 GB + 2 TB.

If you are an astute windows user and know how to keep your windows install trim, you should have no trouble with OS and 1 or 2 programs on SSD and everything else on SSHD. It's a lot easier on 250 tho.
