Question 2U Server Chassis that is capable of handling 8 double width GPUs?

Hello everyone,

I am on the the hunt for a 2U formfacor chassis that has a motherboard that can hendle 8 double width GPUs all at once.
Also, with 4 hot-swap 2.5" PCIe Gen 4 NVMe/SATA drive bays, and 4 hot-swap 2.5"SATA drive bays.

If anyone knows of a system that is 2U and can match these requirements please let me know,
I would really appreciate it.

What GPUS do you want to use? 2U chassis cannot hold a full height GPU.

In addition there are no 2U Motherboards or cases in existence that have 16 slot widths side by side, that would be the whole width of the rack meaning no room for the PSU, or the rest of the motherboard ports.

What you want does not exist.

Not physically possible in any 2U chassis I have encountered. Typically only 2 double wide cards because the PCIe slots have to be rotated.

You can probably find a 4 or 5U chassis, but not 2U.

OP wants a 4U chassis at a minimum. A 2U could maybe support 2, if they were sideways and it had the airflow already built for it.

I was able to find a Gigabyte 2U chassis that does support 8 GPUs. It is the Gigabyte G292-280.

So $9,000 MSRP server, whats the application for this, just wondering?

Typically we are only dealing with home consumer hardware here, hence us not even thinking of a server like that.
