2 years ago I bought a single stick of this ram

then yesterday I bought another single stick of this ram so to make a 2x4GB RAM Configuration

But when I installed the new stick of ram(therefore making it 2x4GB), windows wont boot up

I removed the old stick of ram and windows still wont boot up

I inserted my old stick of ram again and removed the new stick of ram, windows booted up

Can the stick of ram I bought be faulty?

Or is this caused by compatibility issues?

Is there a need for me to update my BIOS to make this stick of ram work?

Thanks in advance

Solution
the new stick is likely faulty then , especially seeing as the other stick is exactly the same specs and is compatible , i would suggest return it for replacement

the ram sticks are the same, they only differ by age

DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 4096MBx1 CL9-9-9-24 1.5v

and my motherboard is ASUS P7H55-M LX

yeah I tried it on its own, windows still wouldn't boot up

thanks for the help man!
