I know it seems like the obvious answer is to buy and use the single card option but since i have one asus r7-250 2gb ddr5 it might make more sense and less money to buy a second one and crossfire it.

The other option is to crossfire the asus card with an a10-7850k apu which asus customer support says will crossfire together. In that case my system memory is 16 gb with 2gb for the graphics card via bios. The memory is 2133 cl-10 2x8gb chips.

so wich of those three options is likely the better performer?

See that's what i thought too but i went through 3 rx-460 cards and they all have a habit of showing me lavendar bars on the sides of the screen and double images. Usually only on startup but sometimes while in windows and linux as well. And i have no problems when using the r7 250, either from the apu or the discrete card. The monitor is new and hasn't given me any problems. Also the rx-460's would cause the screen to flick off then back on again afetr a couple of seconds. On 460 was an xfx 4gb card with a required 6 pin connector for power. the other two were saphire 2gb cards that ran totally from the pci slot. I have the latest bios update (almost a year old so i guess no more shall be forth coming) . The only thing left is the power supply or the motherboard and since the 430 watt power supply and the gigabyte mother board all work with the r7-250, i'm hard pressed to believe it's one of them.
