Hey Guys

This is the build i will be getting:

CPU: core i7 920
MOBO: Asus P6T
Ram: OCZ 6G(3x2G) Intel X DDR3 1600Mhz
HDD: 2x 250Gb in RAID 0
GPU: 2x GTX 260 core 216 in SLI
PSU: Thermaltake EVO Blue 750watt

I was wondering if my system would be able to run well and stable, maybe occasionally overclocked with some head room on the 750watt PSU, as I do not want the PSU to be maxed out?

Note: I already have 1x GTX 260 core 216 so you don't have to reccomend another GPU but feel free to comment on everything else

Thanks heaps

Thanks for the fast response! Why do u believe the corsair 650 watt will be better?

I can get a corsair 750watt modular for about $30 more than the thermaltake 750watt.

You can also take the 750TX or HX .

But I saw somewhere that the THERMALTAKE PSU had 75% efficiency. While the corsairs are 85% efficient. This means less energy dissipated in the form of heat.

For 30$ more corsair would be the best but Thermaltake will also do the job.

yep ur right, i had a look around (quite hidden) and it is 75% at typical load. so it looks like the 750watt corsair is the deal.

So based upon Corsair HX-750 ATX Power Supply (with 80plus silver effieciency and up to 90% energy-efficiency under real-world load conditions*) would I be able to run my system well and stable, maybe occasionally overclocked with some head room on the 750watt PSU, as I do not want the PSU to be maxed out? Your help has been great thank you ! :)

I'd say go for the 750 *TX* as unless you really need the modular, the standard is much better. Tom's Hardware has a news article about modular vs standard efficiency. Just search for it.

Hey thnks for the response!

U reckon tx, well i really wanted modular do u think the difference is necessary? On the other hand if im going to pay the best i wud also like the best..

thanks for the response i'm glad that a 750watt can handle sli, i have just seemed to notice that for some reason people have power supply with massive wattages.

Huh?

TX is 80+ certified
HX is 80+ Silver certified

Doesn't matter what the article claims.
