Howdy guys,
I was browsing newegg today and found this amazing deal:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162058&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-14-162-058-_-Product
$70 for a GTX 460 768MB after rebate and that puts it right in my price range for my new computer, which I had planned to get a radeon HD 6850 for.

My only reason for posting this is because I have no idea how the impact of the 768MB of ram vs the 1gb version will be. If I SLI them, will the ram hold me back? I know that the heirarchy puts the GTX460 1GB even with the HD 6850, but I have no idea how having lesser VRAM but 2X the cards balances out.

Anybody insight?

Go for it. 2 460s will definitely walk all over a single 6850--even if they only have 768 MBs of RAM each, it is a lot more than the 1 GB on the 6850--so for the money it is a no brainer!

the 1gb version is also not $70. I know the 460 1gb vs hd 6850 comparison, and that resulted in me choosing the 6850.

The problem is that now I can get two GTX 460 768MBs for the same price as a single 6850/460 1GB. I want to know what the drawback/gains I could expect are.

Danke. Just wanted to be sure. It seemed like too good a deal with a $50 manufacturer rebate. Saw it this morning and made this face D:
