which is a better performing SLI setup.

Current setup:

i7 1366
18 GB Ram
Fatality Soundcard
1200w PSU
2x GTX465
3x GD235hz monitors
Nvidia 3D Vision

Games played:

Call 2 Duty Ghosts
Fallout 3 and NV
Civ 5
Simcity

I am wondering if 2x GTX 295 would perform better in Surround and 3D.

Solution
GTX 295 SLI is better (easily), but that is Quad SLI, many issues with micro-stuttering and scaling is not right. Sticking with dual GTX 465's may be best.

What are some inexpensive alternatives to the GTX 465s? When playing some games in 3d, I get a message the due to lack of resources A.A. Has been turned down to 2x, and to stop getting this message I need to turn of surround. I would do that but then the game screen moves to one of the outer displays instead of the center display. Moving displays is not a option during gameplay.

The i7 is a 920 2.67 1366
16 GB Ram 12 GB triple channel, 4GB just added because I had it but same type of Memory
1200w PSU
Asus sabortooth MB x58 chipset
64 bit O.S. W.E. score of 7.2
Samsung 120 GB SSD for O.S.
2 WD velosiraptor HHD in raid for speed
1 2TB WD HDD for user files

3x Acer GD235hz Displays in surround vision

I do believe my issues are V.C. related but could be wrong.

if I turn off the 3d Vision the message goes away. Only when 3D is enabled in nvidia control panel do I get that message. even if i am not playing in 3D.

there is a Titan card that supports 3 displays but that is at least $1500 and i just don't have that to spend or let me rephrase that The CFO(my wife), won't let me spend that kind of money to play games. I am working on her though.

i personally don't think Titans are worth it, it's triple the price but not on performance. and even if it does tripple the performance (of a 780), i'd rather save the cash and buy the high end card (like an 880 or skip and get 990, or whatever they will call it)

So I decided to go with the ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Cards, they were priced low enough to get two. I am addicted to my 3 display setup and could not go back to just 1 and having 2 displays wont work with the bezel in the middle. I plan to install the cards tonight and will let you all know what i think. I only hope the GPU upgrade is worth the money spent.

A good single card can do 3 displays no problem. But you will be fine with sli 660s.
