Hi there, I'm from the UK and was wondering, could I pay for a different internet provider for my house while the rest of my family uses the one funded by my mother? #1 It'd probably be for a server, but I might drop out on that and just use it myself as our internet is frustratingly slow as we all share it (5-7 devices, e.g pc's, phones etc.) and I get like 8mpbs upload and 20mbs download when I do speed tests. I'm 12 and could probably afford it depending on the price. Would it be insanely priced? Like £150/£200? Can I get a quote on the price, also what company would you recommend? It wouldn't have to be very fast as it would just be me using it really and to my understanding, if it's advertised as e.g 40mbps then that's 40mbps shared between the different devices. So if it was just me I could expect to get around 30mbps+? Also, would I have to pay for a phone line (that I wouldn't be using btw) or are there providers that allow you to buy just ethernet?

Sorry for rambling,

Regards, (ps ignore the server bit)

You can just buy Internet alone and yes its possible but pricy depending on speed. Internet can get really expensive depending on the speed. When you ISP advertises a speed it usually doesn't mean you get that speed. For example, if they advertise 100mbps you aren't getting 100 megabytes per second its megabits so when you actually download something you might only get 10 megabytes per second literally download speed.
