So, i'm a noob. Lets get that out of the way now.
Lately I've been very interested with building a computer for video editing, gaming, and 3d renders. Graphics cards do cost a pretty penny, so lets say i put two gtx 580's in my setup for one monitor. Does the performance increase rather than if it were just one card? Or is an SLI setup for more than one monitor at a time?
Thanks!

Depends on that monitor.
If its 60hz 1080p, then more than likely most of the extra performance from the 2nd card would be wasted, as you are going to be limited by V-Sync to a max 60FPS.
If its 120hz/3D 1080p, then you will see a difference between a single and dual card setup.
If its a 1440p monitor, you will definitely see a difference, though you will likely be VRAM limited with 1.5GB 580's.

It is in fact a 60Hz 1080p monitor. Bummer.
Thanks though!
