2x2GB + 4x2GB .. anything wrong?

Im planning to have memory , 2x2 GB one of the channels and 4x2 GB on the other ... is it necessary to match latency's ... any minus points on doing this ... wt else i should make sure of?? ... pls help..

Yup, It is necessary to match latency's and all configuration of Rams otherwise your system will not work fine.
