2x2gb ddr3 ram or one 2gb and another of 4gb for my pc.

I have 3 ddr3 rams and 2 slots on my motherboard.

What is best?

1. 2x2gb=4gb
2. 2gb+4gb=6gb

I consider dual channel from 2x2gb could be better but I can also think having more gb's is also good.

Any suggestion?

Personally I wouldn't use any of them, I'd buy a new matched pair of 2 x 4GB instead.


However, if that's not possible then I'd say 6GB of your existing RAM without dual-channel is better than 4GB with dual-channel (in terms of system performance).

With so little of ram - increased amount is significantly more important than dual channel benefits.
Dual channel may be gives you 10-15% performance increase.
But when your system runs out of ram, the speed is reduced to crawl because of excessive paging operations ("trashing").

I just bought a pair of 8gb for $40. The guy bought them thinking his pc was ddr3, and it was ddr4 xD

I got them sealed new. 16gb
