2x4gb + 1x4gb = fine ?

Hi, im building a system with a R5 1400 with 2x4gb of ram. I dont want a 1x8gb stick and leave space for another 1x8gb, since i dont plan on getting 16gb any time soon and i dont want to lose performance until i do so.

Since my motherboard has 4 dimm slots, i want to add another 1x4gb in the third slot in a month or so to get 12gb of ram. Will it be fine with that config ? And also, if i add a 4th 1x4gb stick on the last slot in the far future, will the second dual channel kit work fine as long as its the exact same dimm ?

As long as they are same specs, it should be fine.

As long as they are same specs (aside from size), it should be fine. You might not be able to run them in dual channel mode or at most in 4 + 4 dual channel mode.
