2x500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD or 1x1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD?

I'm replacing my HDD for SDDs and I want to have 1TB of storage, which would be better to get two 500GB SSDs or one 1TB SSD, the price difference is $20 AUD so not a drastic difference. Thank you

Go with with a single if for storage.

It really depends on how you plan to use them.

Having two drives can be very handy for organizing data into different places, and spreading out writes to the SSD (which in theory will help it last a bit longer). It is also very handy to have a 2nd drive in case any other of your drives fails in the future. You could keep one of the 2 SSD's as storage and use one as an emergency boot drive.

If you already have plenty of drives to use as backup and you just want a simple storage drive, then a single drive would be fine.

EVO lifespan is not an issue ,proven in many test.

I was speaking in long term (5+ years), or past the normal warranty. I don't think the new EVO models have even been released for 5 years yet (or are just getting there) so I've also seen no tests showing a large batch of their long-term performance. I'd love to see Backblaze run a report on a rack of EVO's over the next few years, but I doubt that will happen due to cost.

That's really semantics though for this post, and as you can see Sebastian has already gotten the answer he was looking for. 😉
