Question 2x8 DDR3 kit is installed but BIOS only detects 8GB as total memory and 4 GB if a singular 8GB stick is installed.

I have an old H61 chipset board from Asus that rocks an i5 3470. I installed new RAM for a total of 16 GB yet it only detects 8, and 4 if 1 stick is installed

Can ya give us a link to the board you have?

H61 definitely should support 8gb dimms, id check for bios updates from motherboard page at Asus.
