2x8 or 1x16

I am looking for new ram and i can either get 2x8 or 1x16 and the obvious awnser is to get 2x8 gb for 16gb of ram but if i want to upgrade to 32 down the line because i only have 2 ram slots ill have to sell them to get 2x16. So should i get 2x8 and get the best performance or 1x16 and get a bit worse and how much worse is it?

My specs are as followed

i7 7700
8gb ram
gtx 1060 3gb

Get 2x8GB. By the time you actually need 32GB of RAM, you'll be looking at a new system build anyway.
