Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but my e8400 max's at 3.38ghz.
I have a EVGA 780i MB with 4gig of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 memory 4-4-4-12 @2.1V

So I can get 3.38 with no adjustments to my cpu voltage. However, when I change FSB to 1600 to obtain 3.6ghz I blue screen. I've adjusted my volts in small increments all the way up to 1.40625! No go, crashes.

Help me out..I heard this process is awesome for OC. Maybe my memory?? I'm on air but upgraded to the Xigmatek HS.

What voltage do you put on the northbridge. On my 650i chipset i have to give 1.4V to the northbrige and 1.4 to the CPU FSB to get FSB 1600.

I have my e8400 at 3.6 with 1.302 Volts. I have to say i was not very lucky with this CPU and the VID is high and it's C0 stepping. With E0 stepping you should be able to hit 3.6 below 1.25 Volts.

My CPU FSB is set at 1.30v
Memory is at 2.1v

Also, if I bump my FSB to 1525 from 1500 at almost the same voltage use @ 3.6ghz it crashes. I truely thinks its just a voltage issue but how high can I go to achieve 3.6?

Newegg shows the voltage range for the E8400 at not sure if most people follow that.
Voltage 0.85V – 1.3625V

I would suggest trying to loosen the timings on that ram to 5-5-5-18 2T, and look in the BIOS, make sure the ram in in sync mode(DRAM-FSB ratio) so it runs at DRAM 400mhz, when your fsb is at 400. Sync with the ram and fsb is the best for overclocking.

Ok, I'll try that when I get home.

I really think its the RAM limiting me too. Might swap out to the Dominator DDR2 1066 by Corsair.

you should be able to hit 3.6 ghz with stck voltage (i can with mine) try:

memory voltage: 2.12
CPU voltage: 1.30v
NB:1.28
CPU PLL: 1.56
Termination Volatge : 1.26

Ok so I upgraded my bios P08 and was able to hit 3.49GHz from previous 3.38 with using 1.36volts on cpu. What changed is instead of using unlinked I selected "Linked" and typed in 1550 for FSB. Passed Prime95 24hour run. Temps stay around 38-41C. I still think that voltage is way off the charts for this processer. I'm still debating if I should try new memory possibly the Dominator DDR21066 what are your thoughts?

Voltage is
CPU Core: 1.36875
Cpu FSB: 1.4v
Memory: 2.1 (recommended)
nForce SPP: auto
NF200: auto

3.6Ghz achieved with 1.27 vcore. I'm happy with this. All I did was re-flash my bios again, restore default settings, and bumped up my FSB to 1600 "unlinked". Seems that my MB has a FSB dark hole to it and wasn't liking my previous settings.
