3.5 mm splitter?

recently i broke my beats mixr headphones. it has two 3.5mm inputs in each earcup. it only works earcup that plugged in. so i tried plug two cables to both of them. it worked. the problem is my pc can give two audio outputs at the same time but laptaop couldn't so i thinking about get a 3.5 mm splitter. is is safe to use splitter?
