Hi guys,

Mobo: Gigabyte Z87x-d3h
Psu: Enermax EG701AX-VE(W)(24p)
GPU: RX 480
Ram: corsair vengeance ddr3 1600 memory (2x4gb)
CPU: i5-4670k - not overclocked
SSD: Kingston ssd (Operating system)
HDD: Wd blue hdd
OS: Windows 10
Case Zalman z11

I recently bought a Creative Blaster Audigy Fx 5.1 PCIe Sound Card with SBX Pro Studio which has 5.1 surround sound. I have installed it with no issues whatsoever. I am using Creative Blaster Evo headphones, which can be used either via 3.5mm jack, or via USB. I was given these by a friend as the USB port in the headphones is broken, however the 3.5mm jack still works.

If the USB port on the headphones worked, I would be able to get 5.1 surround sound through the headphones. As the USB port on the headphones is broken, I currently cannot get 5.1 on the headphones.

At the moment, I am using the 3.5mm jack, which goes into a two way splitter, so I can get mic/audio for gaming, which works great. However, if I bought a 3.5 mic/line to USB convertor, say for example, this:

Would this trick the computer into thinking that the headphones were connected via USB, and then allow me to use the soundcard's 5.1 system? I am not sure if the USB convertor would convert the analogue signal (generated by the 3.5mm connection) into a digital one?

Solution
USB I/O works all by itself, doesn't get sound from Onboard sound or sound card. It has own sound CODEC (Coder Decoder) chip and changes native computer digital signal to analog from headphones or microphone.
