i am planning to get a MSI Ti4200 64MB 4X which has this code on its chips - HY5DV641622AT-36. i believe that means its a 3.6ns memory chip. I wanted to know how high i could overclock the memory yto without any RAM sinks... on air-cooling.

Tnx for all ur help!

well, never mind. i found out the max i cud get to on air-cooling if i am lucky is about 295MHz.

Yeah, that would be about right...1000/3.6 = 277.77 which would be the 'design speed' of that memory so to push it to 295 would be pretty good.

I have my 4.0ns memory (on a GeForce4 Ti4200) running nicely at 310Mhz which seems a bit high considering its design speed is 250...although I have a zalman heatpipe cooler and a fairly substantial fan blowing directly on it.

wow.. 310MHz on 4.0ns memory? thats awesome man. What make is that memory chip? Samsung? Which make is ur Ti4200?

Yes, its Samsung...the card is made by XFX (Pine)

Right now I'm at 315 Core & 621 Memory, any higher on the memory and I get some artifacts...

Yep, Samsung memory chips tend to overclock well... but i always thought XFX/Pine put inferior chips on the cards... coz i have seen my friends' MX440 which wont even do 175Mhz on DDR memory.
