3 Beeps at Startup - MSI Motherboard - Please Help

Hello,
I recently purchased a new PC and within a week I started hearing 3 Beeps at startup. After that the computer used to startup normally and ran normally. Still, the seller replaced the RAM & the motherboard. After repairs, I hooked the CPU and the beeps were still there.

I tried searching if someone else had similar issue, but couldn't find anything. What could be the issue in my setup?

I would appreciate if fellow members could help me out. Please let me know if you need additional details.

Here is from MSI ( because you don't list the your MB model ) even it is old, 3 beeps is RAM problem.

You make try set up the XMP for intel MB, or AMP for AMD MB in the BIOS, if the MB support it.

Also may test the RAM one by one with MemTest86 http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm you can run only few passes, you want to see there is no any error at all. Even you will get one, that means the RAM has problem.

Thank you for your reply.

It is MSI H110M model. I already replaced the RAM and also the Motherboard. And the seller checked at his service center and it didnt make any beeps. But as soon as I hook it up at my home, it starts beeping.

Does it still make sense to run MemTest?

Make sure install the RAM correctly, because seller doesn't have the problem over there, so you don't have to run the test.

Also just use one stick RAM. Try: clear the CMOS by the jumper, and boot into the BIOS, set up the intel XMP profile for the RAM, saving, exit, shut down the PC, install other stick rAM, reboot the PC to see the PC will act the same or not.

I have only one RAM stick.
Unfortunately I do not have a jumper for resetting the CMOS.

Although I removed the RAM and re-installed it to see if that makes any difference.
Plus I also checked by connecting individual components (Monitor, Keyboard, etc) but it still makes the beeps.

I thought it could be because of my spike guard I was using. So I even purchased a new one. Still the beep is there.

Any more suggestions? The beeps are irritating me.

What RAM did you get? Either the RAM or MB has problem for the RAM error. Also check the cpu socket to see there is any bent pin or not.

Also what cpu do you have?

spike guard or we called power strip is good for your PC. If it is bad, you will not get power, it does not relate to the RAM error.

CIN19, Thanks for helping me figure this out.

I checked the manual which shows the pin for clear cmos, but it does not have the jumper. (I checked inside the case as well).

Now that I hear closely, I think it is 1st beep is longer then the other 2. The PC starts up perfectly fine after that and also the cpu beeps only when I start it for the 1st time in a day. If I shut it down and restart later, cpu does not beep.

Keep in mind, when the PC boots up, it will sound one beep, this is the normal sound you should get. Also the MB has the EZ debug LED for CPU, RAM, and VGA ( manual page 15). But you have to open the case to see them. Boot the PC to see they will on or not, If the RAM has problem, the RAM debug will on, if that LED is not on, the RAM is fine.

One more thing, wen you boot the PC, go into the BIOS, in the hardware monitor or heath monitor section something like that, to check the +3.3V, +5V, and +12V voltages. You want to see those voltages are within +/- 5% range, then the PSU is OK, otherwise you will need buy other PSU.

Co-incidentally, I did the same thing as you mentioned above. I rebooted the pc with the case open and saw that EZ Debug light for VGA was on. As per the manual, that inidcates that its failure of gpu or not detected. But I do not have a GPU.

So I went ahead and resetted the CMOS by removing the battery.(I couldn't find the jumper.) And after resetting, I loaded optimized settings.

After rebooting, the beeps have gone. I will use it for couple days and see if the beeps are permanently resolved.
