Question 3 DIM Slots not working, Checked CPU/MOBO Pins. Am I screwed? Pictures included.

So 3 of my DIM slots weren't working after building a new PC. When I took the CPU off to check for bent Mobo Pins or damage to the cpu contacts I found this, DAMAGE click me, on the mobo and cpu. Missing pin that appears to be fused to the back of the CPU. My questions are: How does this happen?, and am I screwed under warranty?

That probably should be covered under your motherboard warranty, I see not realistic way that you, as the user, could have made that happen accidentally.
Bent pins are one thing, but a pin broken off to the CPU should be covered.
Depends on how good the warranty department is for your motherboard though.

Its an ASUS Prime z370 - A, and 85% of the replies about RMAing an ASUS MOBO has been pretty disheartening. but we will see.

Yeah, but do remember most bad RMA reviews are from people who caused the issue themselves.
