So I'm using this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150686&cm_re=xfx_r9_270x-_-14-150-686-_-Product and just 3 days ago I was able to run 3 Acer 1920x1080 Monitors just fine. I installed a driver update from AMD just 3 days ago and all of a sudden I can't use all 3 anymore I can only get 2 going at any one time.

Now my configuration is 2 DVI and 1 HDMI this was working just fine before the update so I have no idea what went wrong. Has anyone else had this specific issue and how did you fix it? I've tried rolling back the drivers (didn't work computer bluescreened) uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers still didn't work.

This was going just fine before the AMD update just a few days ago and its just really outside of my knowledge as to why it stopped working all of a sudden.

That is a Pitcairn GPU, which, in theory, supports a maximum of 2 non-dispayport outputs. The behaviour you're seeing at the moment is exactly what I would expect from the card. You can run up to 4 monitors, but a maximum of two monitors can be used before all additional monitors require a displayport, or ACTIVE displayport to DVI/HDMI adapter.

I have absolutely no explanation for why it was working before. I'm surprised because as I understand it, it should not have been working at all.

Do any of your monitors have a displayport (DP) input? If so grab a DP cable. Alternatively, grab an ACTIVE DP -> DVI/HDMI adapter and it should work fine. The picture of your card shows miniDP connectors, so you'd be looking at something like this for ~$30: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999034&cm_re=displayport_to_dvi-_-14-999-034-_-Product

Again, I'm reluctant to suggest you spend money when it was working before, that is strange. Others may have an explanation but I do not... other than to say that on that generation of AMD cards, max 2 non diplayport monitors are supported.

I solved it I installed the old version of the AMD drivers version 13.251-131206a-165817C-ATI down from the 14.9 version. It took more searching but I was able to find the old download and now its all working again all 3 screens extended displays and triple 5760x1080 eyefinity.

I do not have any idea why it is working since apparently it shouldn't be but this is the back of my PC

and this is the lovely background I have with the windows menu bar up for proof that it actually is on eyefinity

Ignore the room in the background just made a move a week ago still getting things settled in. Impromptu picnic table desks FTW

Apparently XFX did something to their cards to make them support 3 monitors non display port. I had 4 with DVI DVI HDMI Mini DP going at one time so they apparently did something to them that is totally against the architecture.

Well that's a good solution I suppose. Glad you got it all working.

I knew Sapphire managed to incorporate a work-around for the AMD limitation. Perhaps XFX implemented something similar. My only guess is that somehow the driver update broke whatever workaround XFX is using. I'd be interested to know what was going on, so if you hear any more or others reading this know more, please post it!

At some stage you are going to want updated drivers. So investing in the proper cables or adapters I suggested above wouldn't be a bad idea when finances permit.

Glad it's all sorted for now anyway.
