I’ve just bought a new 3 Pin ARBG fan and LED strip for my PC, but managed to break off two off the male pins on the mobo when connecting them.

I tried one of these, but it doesn’t work with multicolour modes:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001228482733.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6edc4c4d9PQQYv

So I’m wondering if I can repair the connector using something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wilkinson-...ales+4+Pin+Male+to+Male&qid=1611235051&sr=8-2
I’m no good with a soldering iron, but could maybe snap off the unwanted pins (I couldn’t find a three-pin version) and use this to cover where the pins broke off and hold it in place with Blu Tack or something? Would that work? Any potential problems with damaging components by attempting this? Any other repair suggestions or solutions?

Another option is to buy a separate ARGB controller, but this is a cheaper option to explore first.

Mobo is Asrock B450M Pro4:

Thanks!

I tried the repair using the connectors, but it didn’t work - the connectors just weren’t connecting with the bits of snapped off pins.

There is a layer of plastic between where the pins protrude from and the board, would it do any damage if I removed this with pliers? I may then expose some of the missing pins?
