3 pin connector install on a 4 pin cpu fan?

Can you install a 3 pin connector for a CPU fan on a 4 pin motherboard connector? I know it fits physically, but does everything work fine?

Yes, it will work, but depending on your motherboard, it may run at full speed. Check out the link on the different types of fan connections.

The problem is that the fan maybe to loud without sound control(the fourth pin)

Well the fan does have a manual fan speed control, so everything is fine. Thanks fellas.
