Question 3 pin fan connector into a 4 pin MB socket

Can I connect a 3 pin fan connector to a 4 pin motherboard socket that is labeled "fan"? I am planning using the 3 left pins leaving the right pin open?

You are approaching it correctly.

Be aware that you may have full-speed operation from a fan connector positioned in that way.

Check your MB manual and BIOS settings to see if those fan headers will support variable voltage speed control of the fans.

Yes. There's a plastic panel on the motherboards fan header that acts as a guide to direct you to the 3 pins you need to use...the connector on the fan wiring harness has guides on one side that will line up with the panel on the motherboard fan header.

You also may need to access BIOS and set the header you plug fan in to Voltage instead of PWM adjustments, or it may run full speed only.
