Hi guys I am looking to change my PSU's fan cause it is too loudy. My PSU is a SFX factor and has a two pin connector on it. The fan I want to buy, the Noiseblocker BlackSilentPRO Fan PC-P 80mm comes with a 3 pin cable.

Will a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter do the job??

Yes that will work.

Why is the fan loud is it because its running full speed? The new fan will run full speed as well

No it is loud because it is a cheap solution. The PSU is an Aerocool 400W which came with my case. So instead of buying a new PSU I decided to change the fan.

Ah ok.

I'll spare you the standard TH rant on why you should just toss the PSU and buy a new one. I'm sure the new fan even at full tilt will be quieter and all you need is the power and ground that adaptor will give you. The 3rd wire is a motherboard sensor wire that is not needed.
