3-way GTX1080 SLI QUESTION

Hello everyone,

I have a doubt which of these options below would be the best and more performance? between A and B:


A: Dual SLI GTX1080 - 40 lanes (x16 / x16)

B: 3-Way SLI GTX1080 - 40 lanes (x8 / x8 / x8)


Other question: would spend money for nothing with option B?

I'm saying in relation to game and FPS.


My specs:
MB ASUS X99 DELUXE II
VIDEO CARD ASUS 1080 STRIX OC EDITION
I7 6950X
128GB RAM DDR4 3200MHZ G-SKILL TRIDENT Z
INTEL 750 SERIES 1.2TB NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD
PSU CORSAIR AX1500i

Note: This is not a future project, I already have the parts, my doubt is only in relation to third GPU.

You cant scale 1080s above two way SLI.

As above Nvidia decided with the new gen that 2 way sli is the max

As the others have already mentioned, 3 and 4 way SLI are no longer officially supported by Nvidia.

What I would do: Stick with two 1080's in SLI until the 1080 Ti (Titanium edition) releases. Then upgrade to two 1080 Ti's in SLI.
