So my System shut down last night for no reason and when I went to boot it wouldn't post. With one memory stick it is now able to get to windows, but after a minute or two the CPU fan ramps up to a ludicrous speed before the system shutting itself down.

I checked and the CPU heat is only ~31 C. The PSU and GPU check out as well. Any advice on what to check/do next would be appreciated. I'm stumped.

Solution
Check / replace the CMOS battery. Reset the BIOS to defaults, then if it is stable, re-apply your overclocks (if any).
If they're not all solid, check the motherboard for swollen or leaking capacitors.

Thanks. After resetting the Bios it is staying on, but now every time the system boots it is saying no hard drive found hit space before continuing to boot and obviously finding the hard drive.

Any idea how to fix/stop that message from coming up.

Thank you for your previous answer I can at least take all my work onto an external harddrive to work on my laptop until I'm certain my desktop is 100%.
