Hey everyone. My laptop is 3 years old and used to be able to play games (Fallout New Vegas, if you need an example) smoothly with medium or even high settings. Now on low, I can play maybe 10-20 minutes then it shuts down because of the heat.
What do you recommend me to do?
I read somewhere that I should clean my laptop with CCleaner (doing it as I write) and maybe defragment my hard drive, so I'll be doing that too, but will that be enough to fix my overheating problem? What else could I do to make sure I can go and kill Ghouls tomorrow?
My laptop is an Acer Aspire Timeline with Intel Core i5 and Nvidia GeForce GT540M. As I said, I used to be able to play the same games, so I doubt the specs matter in this case.

have you ever cleaned the dust out off your laptop if not then that is the problem. Btw overheating is almost always hardware based so ccleaner witch is just to clean up dump files and browser history won't help. So just clean you pc from its dust and everything will be good. Now here are some tips and things you need 1 you will need a compressor that you put on a low air pressur or a can off compressed air 2 you need to block you laptops fans so that they don't spin while blowing because that could damage them (i useually stick a metal wire between the blade off the fan and that works) 3 don't skip on air just blast away 5 DO IT OUTSIDE 6 Never use a vacuum cleaner that won't work or a hair dryer that is just not powerfull enough (a leaf blower can but well not reccomended).

That is if you are going to want to clean oout evry single but off dust but generally just blowing out the vent and blocking the fan is good enough.
