I am looking to build this PC. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Redness360/saved/YM4vnQ

Should I stay with those parts, or switch out the ASRock board with either the

  • MSI B450 Gaming Plus
    MSI B450 Bazooka
    Gigabyte B450 Auros M
    Gigabyte B450 DS3H
    Asus Prime B450M-A
And drop down to 4 Gigabytes of ram. I want to keep the Ryzen 3, the case for extra airflow, and the SSD for better speeds, but I can change the ram, or the motherboard.

In this day and age, don't go below 8GB of ram. I would ask you to look at DDR4-3200MHz dual channel ram kits to replace the ram you currently have. You also could look at the Gigabyte B450 Auros M but I'd look at a better M.2 SSD since you're getting the option for PCie 3.0 x4 on that slot.

I'm trying to stick below $300, and not everything is possible. Is the ASRock B450M-HDV enough for the Ryzen 3 and maybe a Ryzen 5 if I ever upgrade? Or would an A320 board from another company be better?

A320 would require a bios update to run the second gen ryzen like the 2200g. If you can track one down with the update already preinstalled or have another compatable am4 CPU to use with the Mobo to run the update than you can do that.

You may be a good candidate for an old prebuilt and drop in a low end GPU and a new CPU. Should give you better performance than the 2200g by itself, though there's not as much future upgrade potential, warranty, and it's used.

I would agree with what he said. Check this out.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Optiplex-990-MT-250GB-Intel-Core-i7-2nd-Gen-3-40GHz-4GB-PC-Desktop/254010676875?hash=item3b2437568b%3Ag%3A6JQAAOSwxG9cBY4C&LH_BIN=1

160 for an i7 2600.

8gb ddr3 kit to install for 12gb of ram

https://www.ebay.com/itm/8GB-DDR3-RAM-KIT-2x4GB-Desktop-Memory-RAM-PC3-12800S-INTEL-NAME-BRANDS/163476480594?hash=item260ff52252:g:HSoAAOSwvcFcM4nI:sc:USPSFirstClass!63123!US!-1

Right now you are about 180.

Maybe a gtx 1050ti

https://www.ebay.com/itm/GIGABYTE-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti-DirectX-12-4GB-GDDR5-Gaming-Video-Card/283366191811?hash=item41f9f0f2c3%3Ag%3Ap00AAOSw2fRcWMtR&LH_BIN=1

I suggest something like that card because you may not have the budget to upgrade the power supply. If you could swing that, I would say an RX 570 8gb if possible is a better choice.

But in either event, you may go over 300 by say 10 dollars or so, but this is coming from an AMD user myself, between that and the 2200g with no gpu, the older i7 system is preferable imo and will give you a better gaming experience.

128gb ssd is about useless, as it will fill up too fast. I would forgo that, and get it later.

I already have some HDDs at home. I want new for upgradeability. Is the Gigabyte A320 Ryzen 2000 Ready Mobo for $50 better than the ASRock B450M-HDV for $62. I won't be overclockkng, at least for quite a while.

if you want to avoid having to do a bios update got to a b450 board and use at least 8 gig of ram in dual channel at 3200 in speed and get a 250 gig ssd for the os and use your old hdd to have games and data on it will go over the 300$ budget but you will save yourself a lot of headhaches on the build up .

The vrms will be a big deal if you start into overclocking to much. The audio because with that asrock, you don't have many slots to add a card. The ran slots also because if you want to upgrade in the future, instead of just adding 2 sticks, you will have to remove your ram that you are buying now in order to use a bigger kit. The asrock saves money today, but will limit you a little tomorrow basically.

I would lose that tiny SSD instead of dropping the RAM size.
