$3000 build

Hey, I'm looking to spend $3000 CDN on a new desktop. I work quite a bit in 3dsmax and photoshop, and game quite a bit aswell. Here's what i've put together on NCIX, but i've hit $3200 after shipping, any suggestions on price cuts? Also, I don't know too much about the monitor, any suggestions on that?

First off, you should avoid the 7200.11 line of seagate drives--they have had some issues.

If you go to 1 WD caviar black 640 you'll cut the budget some, improve performance and reliability, and adding a drive isn't too hard either.

Oh and of course you can always come down a little on the mouse and keyboard--no need to drop more than 2 benjies there eithere

Change the mobo to ASUS P6T Deluxe to get free ground shipping on the order, or buy a $10 gift card for the same.

save money on the g9 and get the g5. Logitech g5 is a great mouse.

I've switched to the WD Cavier Black 750 and the G5 mouse and I'm down to $2903, which hits my budget. Thanks for the input everyone!

Any suggestions on a better monitor, or is this good? Can LCD's go over 60 fps yet? lol

The monitor you are getting from what I can tell is an awesome monitor. I have the Samsung 2493HM and it rocks, but I think your monitor is even better. And yes they can pull way way over 60 FPS no problem. Enjoy that monitor, with the video card you have coming it should rock...I am using the nvidia GTX 295 and I must ssay...awesome..I think the 4870x2 is about the same so enjoy. LOL, who would have thought mainstream people would be using 24" monitors for every day computing....certainly not me. I came from A viewsonic 19" that I thought was the berries...all I can say is WOW what a difference the 24" makes. 5 yrs ago this was not an option. wow where we have come from. =-) I remember fighting DMA and IRQ conflicts, thinking 8 megs of ram was overkill, a singlespeed cd drive was (incredible) a video card with 1 MB of memory on board was the best you could buy. A 80286 running at 8 mhz was the top of the line. And a CGA monitor. ROTFLMAO WOW

Actually A pcjr was my first computer and I graduated to a TRS80 for my next. WOW

I have these, and they're amazing. If you game, you'll want powerful surround such as these. Pretty cheap too, and good quality.
