Hi,

I am having an old H11m-CS motherboard from ASUS with intel i3-6098P CPU. At present it works with 8GB Ram that is clocked at 2100MHz. I think specification of HC11m-CS says it supports up to 2100MHz RAM. I am planning a gradual upgrade. I don't want a big bang but eventually I will go to latest MB and AMD Ryzen 7 3700X.

But for now, I want to start by buying the RAM because the application I am using will work on i3-6098P but needs more RAM. I was thinking if I can buy 2x16GB 3200 MHz RAM it will serve the purpose now and it will also be useful in future upgrade in next few months. However, I am not sure if 3200 or 3600MHz RAM will work in my motherboard which says it will support only up to 2100MHz. Can you please suggest?

Here is the link to MB specification

and here is the link to RAM I want to buy.

You may need to enable AXMP (or DOCP depending on the board) in the motherboard BIOS to get it to run at 3200mhz but it should without much difficulty with that 3700X.
When I upgrade to 3700x I will also upgrade the MB that supports higher frequency RAM so should not be a problem. Do I need to do this now with H110M-CS? I am not sure H110M-CS supports that.

From the looks of the specs on the board it actually supports up to 2400mhz so enabling XMP in the BIOS should allow you to run at that speed instead of 2133.

I just wouldn't recommend mixing the old memory with the new one.

So in summary 3200MHz ram will work with H110m-CS but it will be capped at 2100MHz.

OK so its settled.
