[SOLVED] 3000mhz ram on H170 chipset

Currently I have 1 stick of 8gb adata xpg ram in a prebuilt I got a couple years ago and I want to upgrade to dual channel. However, instead of getting 2133 ram (the highest supported by my motherboard and cpu), can I just get 3000 or 3200 speed ram and run it at 2133? I want to do this just in case I want to build a new pc soon when ryzen 4000 series comes out and I’ll have a kit ready to go instead of spending more money on ram. Let me know what y’all think.

Yes, you should be able to get faster memory and run it at 2133mhz, which is what it will default to anyhow.
