[SOLVED] 3000Mhz runs at 2666Mhz

Hi,

I have a problem where my 3000Mhz RAM runs at 2666Mhz with A-XMP on (when it's off it runs at 2400Mhz). What can be the problem ? And yes i have the last BIOS update.
Spec:
MSI Tomahawk B450 Max
Ryzen 5 2600
Gigabyte GTX 1050 TI 4GB
Kingston HyperX Predator 8GB DDR4 3000Mhz (will buy another 8GB)

Which ram slots are you using, 2nd and 4th from cpu?

Oh you're running single stick. Use 2nd slot.

Mixing ram not from a set can cause problems. Alway buy a set, even if you need to wait.

The 2nd, i meant to put it in the 1st then the new one when i buy it in the 3rd.

Oh so, i didn't meant that would be a problem at the Mhz speed. If i buy the same stick, would it be ok ?

Memory/motherboards can be sensitive to differences in ram. Sets are tested for reliability. Buying another stick may work but there's a risk.

Anyhow, use 2nd slot from cpu with a single stick. 2nd stick then goes in the last slot. Don't use 1st and 3rd slot, they're not the primary slots. Check your motherboard manual, it'll explain ram installations.
