Hi all

I was wondering if it would be possible to run a A10-7800 (TDP 65W) with a GTX 750 ti that doesn't use external power so it would be 75W max as it gets powered by the PCI-E slot.
It's a ATX AcBel PSU that came with a ASUS PC is the Acbel PCA022-ZA2G which says 300W 80 Plus Bronze rated.
In my mind that's around 200W give or take when both CPU/GPU are stressed to the max.
Does anyone have similar experiences?
I'm pretty sure it would be ok but not 100% sure..

Thanks!

I wouldn't.

And does that Acbel even have the additional PCIe 6-pin power connector?

No it doesn't.
Only I'd do it is with an adapter.
I've done before i3-4130 and Radeon 7770 on an old PSU from a Dell Optiplex Pentium 4 case which I think may or may have not been 75% efficiency and it work but boy did it get hot and it was drawing 270Watts or there abouts..

I was thinking this one is more efficient.. so maybe?
But you're right and as this is not going to be my rig actually I think I'll stick with the PCI-E powered GPU only and be done with it.

Thank you!

No you won't. That's a terrible idea. Those adapters are potential fire hazards.

That PSU simply wasn't engineered to support the additional +12V load.

Good to know thank you.

I'll stick to the PCI-E powered GPU only.
For the other one I threw the PSU away in the end and I put an old Cooler Master on it albeit not 80+ but at least it had a 6-pin power connector.

Should be fine.

For completion and if it does help anyone else I have actually done and it works fine from what I can tell. I used an OEM version of a 750 ti which I found relatively cheap on ebay.

I even checked the power draw and with full stress test on both CPU/GPU the power meter showed max 220W (mostly 210-215W) consumption. It didn't seem that hot either. I guess in actual gamin and real life conditions you'd never hit that but I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks again jonnyguru!
