Just thought I'd share my personal experience with a computer I built not too long ago. I was concerned at first with whether or not 300w would be enough for my system.

Currently running:
P4 2.8ghz
1gb PC3200 ram
30gb HD
6gb HD
DVD drive
CDRW drive
ATI Radeon 9500 pro
Wireless network PCI card
Floppy
1 system fan
Average CPU fan

I bought an Enermax PSU and case rated at 300w and "P4 Approved". Well they really weren't lying, I have had zero instability issues. Been running a lot of 3d games and benchmarking software such as 3dmark for the last week or so. Not one crash/freeze. So I guess if you want to go with a 300watter just make sure you get a good brand.

yes , name brand 300w (antec,fortron,enermax) supplies
are usually fine for most home systems
Actually , I used a 250w LiteOn supply with no problems
until replaced with a fortron 350w
( I put the 250w in a Celeron Sys )

Well I upgraded my video card to a Radeon 9800 Pro and it seems that my good ol PSU just can't handle everything. I'm getting random crashing during 3dmark03 and in some games. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a bigger PSU. Any others experience these issues with 9800pro on a 300w?

Nope it wasn't the power supply. 8x AGP isn't working right. 4x AGP and it works like a charm and all my benchmark scores are the same.
