Hi, my friend has a pre-built Gateway PC with a 300W FSP PSU and he's wondering if it's enough to power a 750 Ti. He's not intending to overclock or anything and his CPU is an i5 4440.

My friend is concerned if inadequate wattage will fry the GPU. Is it worth getting a 750 Ti? Any help is appreciated.

Yeah I agree should be enough power. It something bad were to happen because the power supply is being pushed too hard the power supply SHOULD be the only component that dies.

Thanks for replying, his PC is quite recent (from last year I believe). So if the PSU wattage is inadequate, it won't fry the graphics card and the rest of his system? Will it just shut down the PC?

A GTX 750Ti based on Nvidia's reference design does not require any additional power connectors. It will just plug straight into the PCI-E slot on the motherboard. Only if your friend buys a card which specifically has an onboard 6 pin connector will he need to worry about additional PCI-E cable(s) from his PSU to the GPU.
