Hi,

I have my new system ready to order, i basically did it by now but got time till monday anyway to make a payment due to weekend so can have 2nd thoughts 😉 As explained in other topic lets leave sense of having GPU for me. I wont really play games on it(it might happen occasionally) but i just want a good one in case i will need it for something one day. I wont switch any parts for many years most likely. My wife is also doing renders in Vray for interior design and because this one will be better overall, she might use it sometimes. I guess very rare, maybe if i take it with me to a different location but its possible.

The only 3 GPU's i consider are this 3 in the topic. In tests i see that Rx 6700 XT is a little bit better than 3060 TI but worse than 3070. Price is basically same for 3060 TI and 6700 XT here so i think 3060TI makes no sense(could be wrong) and for better 3070 i have to pay 15% more.

Is it worth to pay more and get 3070 or maybe its a waste of money and difference will be unnoticeable?

Thanks!

Vray is a plugin, curious, what app will your wife use to render on Vray? I'm an architect by education and have worked with said plugin on Sketchup and 3DSMax. Aside from your wife's task(s), what games will you be taxing the platform/GPU with? If you're going to use Lumion to render, then a gaming GPU will benefit you more, as opposed to a workstation pedigree GPU. If your wife's rendering pay for a roof over your head/food on the table and stability is key, not to forget that she's only going to be using Vray as a plugin, then you could benefit from getting a workstation GPU.

She is using sketchup and her rendering is not paying for a roof yet but hopefully one day ... hehe, but if that happens she will have new stuff for sure, she got new imac bought last year but probably could have done better research as she got 5500 XT there. Its all good though, just thinking about potential possibilities here. Will there be a big difference if she decide to use it sometimes(not sure when as i occupy it anyway)

I wont really play games to be fair. I dont even do it lately on Ps5 and i will running new titles on console for sure. If i run something on this new PC it will be something like LOL maybe that i have never played and wanted to check it out, but its really minor thing and i am sure that game doesnt require big GPU. I havent played games on PC for like 10 years and when i did it was very old titles.

Its more about how good this RX 6700 is and will it be fine if i need to do sth GPU related in future as i wont change it quickly.

I know i kind of answer myself here... but when i bought last station, it was dell alienware laptop with really good specs like i7-4700, 24GB RAM and it was 9 years ago... The only games i played on it was probably Cossacks and Heroes of Might and Magic hehe but the fact that it was more than good at the time of purchase let me work on it as a full desktop for this 9 years(its still good just starting to lag and is not as smooth as i want it to be)

I do remember though that when i run some tests like 3dmarks etc after purchase i was quite disappointed(maybe because of worse GPU that i thought is great too) and from the start i wasnt able to play top games on great resolution so probably thats why i never tried.

Unless your apps can use the compute capabilities of a discrete graphics card, I would not buy one now at all.
The integrated graphics works well.
You can always add a graphics card later.
If you buy today, you may regret it later if prices come down or new functionality appears.

This was actually my idea today, but only because i noticed that motherboard got both Hdmi and display port, so i can connect 2 monitors right away and i can deal with it for a month, maybe two simply because i still have my alienware.

Then i can grab this 3070 on a deal and pay most likely price for current 6700 RX. Maybe there is new release during next 2 months that will push this prices down or i will simply find a good deal out of nothing for it.

A different motherboard can handle 2 hdmi and 2 dp outputs:

Damn, this is interesting. What is the difference between the one you posted and Mortar? Mortar is a little bit more pricey but that 2x hdmi + 2x display ports are huge for me and with that i can basically delay getting GPU for a massive deal
You can get a detailed comparison by selecting the motherboards of interest on newegg and clicking the compare buttons.

There are differences in the rear panel I/O and the audio chipsets.
It looks to me like on the Mortar, there are perhaps some differences in power delivery. Probably not important for a non K processor.
Audio chipset may be a bit better.
You might check out other motherboards in the same way.
MATX B660 is a very reasonable way to go.
But if you go full ATX size or Z690 you may get some different combinations of features.
